Tribute to Lydia Shum

Okay, this might be a tad late, but i'd still like to take this chance to commemorate one of the most respected and most well known faces to the Chinese community worldwide:

MS. LYDIA SHUM

From my own stand point, i of course didn't know Lydia personally, yet i still couldn't help but feel a strange sense of sadness when i learned that we will never get to hear her ringing laughter again. Many of us had grown up with Lydia, seeing her on TV was as normal as eating cereal for breakfast. This lady was like no other before her; in a world where we only think thinness is beauty, it's a rare occasion to see ANYTHING remotely overweight on television (unless of course, it's to poke fun at). Lydia revolutionized that and made us temporarily forget about our human shallowness and in turn, looked at people not with our eyes for once, but our hearts. She was everyone's "happy fruit", generous, kind, giving; you almost always see her at charity shows, performing and working for the benefit of others. The day she left us was when the world suffered a great loss.

Lydia, you will be remembered.
